Charles Johnson, a native of Hawkinsville, Georgia, is more than just a former NFL Defensive End—he's a visionary leader dedicated to making a difference in his community. With an illustrious 11-year career with the Carolina Panthers, Charles amassed an impressive record of 67.5 sacks, securing his place as second all-time in Panthers franchise history. But his contributions extend far beyond the football field.
Driven by a deep-rooted desire to give back to the city that supported him throughout his football career, Charles is passionate about bringing a first-class training facility to the next generation of athletes. As the founder of the Charles Johnson Foundation, he is committed to providing educational support through scholarships and experiential learning opportunities. His dedication to philanthropy and community development is unwavering, reflecting his belief in the power of education and mentorship to transform lives.
Off the field, Charles has diversified his portfolio through investments in real estate projects and local businesses, further demonstrating his commitment to driving growth and empowerment in his community. Ian Holmes, a Lynchburg, VA native, has always been passionate about sports and community engagement. As an All-Region Quarterback at E.C. Glass High School and a member of the James Madison University football team, Ian understands the transformative power of athletics firsthand. Armed with a major in Health Science, Ian brings a unique blend of expertise in sports and wellness to his endeavors.
Currently serving as the Executive Director of New Age Flag Football, Ian is dedicated to providing athletes in Charlotte with the resources they need to succeed both on and off the field. With a focus on youth development and community empowerment, Ian is committed to partnering with local businesses and organizations to shed light on the athletes in Charlotte and provide them with the support and opportunities they deserve.
Ian's passion for sports extends beyond his professional endeavors. As the coach of the Northwest Cabarrus High School Women's Flag Football Team, he is shaping the next generation of athletes and instilling values of teamwork, dedication, and resilience. Additionally, Ian serves on the Charlotte Sports Foundation, further exemplifying his commitment to fostering a vibrant sports community in Charlotte.
In Ian's own words, "By partnering with other Charlotte businesses and organizations, we can shed light on the incredible athletes in our city and provide them with the resources they need to succeed. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community where every athlete has the opportunity to thrive."
Hailing from Charlotte, NC, JJ Briceno is a true hometown champion with a passion for sports and community development. A multi-sport athlete at Butler High School, JJ's love for athletics blossomed early on, leading him to excel in soccer and track & field. However, it was his discovery of flag football while attending UNCW that ignited his entrepreneurial spirit and set him on a path to empower athletes of all ages.
Armed with a degree in Sports Management, JJ founded Crown Town Flag Football, a premier adult league that captured the hearts of Charlotte's sports enthusiasts from 2012 to 2018. Under his leadership, several Crown Town teams achieved world and national titles, solidifying Charlotte's reputation as a hub for competitive flag football.
As the co-founder and Commissioner of New Age Flag Football, JJ's dedication to youth development and community engagement shines through. Serving over 1,500 families in the Metro Area, New Age Flag Football is not just about scoring touchdowns—it's about fostering growth, building character, and instilling confidence in young athletes.
For JJ, it has always been a dream to bring a facility to Charlotte that serves as a safe haven for athletes to grow beyond sports. In his own words, "It has always been a dream of mine to bring a facility to Charlotte that will be a safe haven for athletes to grow outside of sports, improving social skills and giving confidence to our athletes that they can do anything with our support."
